We set off in the early morning mist to ascend to the plateau above, with wonderful panoramic views.
(This was the Via Averna between Rocamadour and Cahors.)
After lunch at a picnic place, we wandered through shady paths through woods, under a motorway,
and through the village of Montfaucon, with its church decorations of pilgrim shell and gourd.
From there, through rolling countryside dotted with ponds to the community hostel with its quaint
shop front window and industrial back entrance.
We completed the day by celebrating with a pizza from a machine in a wall and a bottle of Cahors.
