THIS IS A WORK IN PROGRESS!
We set off from Croy railway station, pausing to watch the swifts darting around the eaves
of an old farmhouse. From there it was along a stream, until suddenly the ground fell away,
and we found ourselves scrambling down a muddy slope to the bottom of a spectacular waterfall.
We followed the Nozon river through woodland for some time, until we came out at the Hospital of Saint-Loup,
and looked around the modern Origami Chapel. The hospital was founded in 1852 as a training school
for deaconesses and care for the sick and needy. From there we walked to the centre of La Sarraz,
stopping off at a Coop to buy provisions for lunch, which we ate on a promenade with a view of
the distant mountains. We had been redirected away from the castle, but on investigation,
we discovered a village festival taking place there, and obtained a stamp for our passes.
We continued along above some vineyards, before a long boring walk along the river,
with only one small section of re-natured river bed (with a seat for a rest) to break the monotony.
We decided to take a short-cut to Cossonay-Penthalez railway station and return home by train,
leaving a visit to Cossonay village on the hill until our return.
