We went by train to Fribourg and attended Mass at the Cathedral, and then walked from there. It was a strenuous walk but pleasant enough and interesting. There was a fairly steep climb out of Fribourg and quite a bit of walking on hard surfaces . After Fribourg we walked through woods and along an old road at one point. It was a very ‘up and down’ day. One interesting landmark was the 17th century St.Apollonia bridge over the Glâne. We also passed close to the Abbaye de Hauterive in Posieux. We came across the first closed church since beginning our walk across Switzerland, in Eucuvillens. We picnicked in an open field in beautiful warm sunshine. At the end we had to rush to get the last bus of the day to Cottens where we took the train and the ride was free as the ticket machine wasn’t working.
