Heitenried to Fribourg

We parked the car just outside Fribourg and took the bus to Heitenreid. We arrived in heavy fog but surprisingly it was a very lovely walk. We were often walking on very old paths and the scenery was constantly changing. It was one of our longer days but was so interesting that we did not notice and suddenly came to the outskirts of Fribourg and were amazed that we were ‘already’ there! We stopped at a farm shop in St.Antoni which had a variety of local produce, a cosy ‘coffee corner’. Passing through Tafers was a very interesting stop as was walking along a steam inhabited by beavers. Many people in this area decorated their houses with wood cuttings etc. which also added to the general interest of this lovely walk. Arriving in Fribourg we were surprised that the ‘Way’ seemed not to be very direct but it, too, was very interesting and we thoroughly enjoyed our visit.
