The road that we took yesterday from Fischingen to Wald via Fishbach was closed so we had to travel via Bauma but this was a very lovely route. We left the car and started our climb to Hörnli and a climb it was. Starting with a woodland path to St. Idda’s chapel which was beautiful and then with steps further up the mountain. After a while, we found the way hard going. We passed a point where the Cantons of Zurich,Thurgovie and St.Gallen met marked by a stone. At the top of the Hörnli (1133m) there is a restaurant but the manager was not at all pleasant and the food is expensive. If you do not eat there, there is a fee for using the toilet. There were military exercises taking place. There was a beautiful view on the way down and it was very gentle and pleasant. I went to Vespers and then join in the evenings meditation session which was just amazing. It took place in front of the altar in the main church around a very large ‘font’ of water. A wonderful moment of peace. Then on and down to Steg. Then with train and bus back to collect the car, and so back to the flat.
