THIS IS A WORK IN PROGRESS!

After a hearty breakfast at the hotel, we climbed up to the local church, and from there walked along the side of the valley to the church at Diémoz, with its 15th century fresco. Time for a banana break and rest before continuing onward through vineyards and views across to the other side of the valley towards Fénis with its 12th century castle, situated south of the river Dora Baltea. The afternoon got hot again (29 degrees) and the way, although interesting, past castles and abandoned villages, was rather tiring. Arriving in Châtillon, we were welcomed by friendly monks and given a room to ourselves, with the other arrivals being put downstairs! We found a suitable place to eat, probably the only open restaurant in the town, finishing the meal with delicious Tiramisu.
