We started the day with a lie-in in bed until the other pilgrims had left,
and then had a leisurely breakfast in the Albergue Ricardo, where Ricardo
himself came in to wish us well!
We set out to Borres where we discovered one albergue was full and the other, some distance
away would only open in the afternoon, if at all, so Sue phoned the Albergue at Colinas de Arriba and reserved places.
A group hiding from the rain in a bus shelter explained to us that they were waiting for a private bus and could give us a lift,
but we decided to push on.
Soon after Borres we had coffee and chocolate from the famous Borres Vending machine -
an ideal place for a coffee or soft drink before starting on the Hospitales route!
We arrived at the sign indicating the two options, down the valley or up into the hills, and so we set off on the Hospitales route!
After the first, relatively easy part of the Hospitales route, we dropped down back to the main camino to find the hostel we had booked.
On the way, we followed some old ways between old walls, and came across a part of the dry-stone wall under repair,
letting us see how it was constructed.
Arriving at the hostel, we were greeted by some young people we had met before, were shown our rooms and had a large sandwich.
We spent the afternoon relaxing and writing up our diaries and websites. The hostel was modern and the people
welcoming, and is to be recommended.
