Bains (Fay) to Monistrol

We set off initially downhill, but then gradually working our way down hill to the Allier river at Monistrol, made famous by its bridge over the Allier, built in 1887 by the Eiffel company a year before the more famous tower. We stayed at a tiny hostel at the head of the bridge, where chef André produce large pans of spaghetti bolognese for us. The churches at St. Privat and Monistrol were well worth a visit, as was the Chapel at Rochegude. Not to mention the modern compost toilet there!
