Almost exactly two years after arriving at Le Puy-en-Velay, we returned to continue where we had left off.
(We had been forced to pause because of COVID-19.) We arrived in the afternoon, and found our lodgings in
the Seminary of Saint George, next to the cathedral. After a healthy communal
meal (of lentils), we wandered around the town in the evening, and the next day,
after a good night's sleep and a hearty breakfast, we attended the pilgrims mass at the cathedral.
The cathedral is unusual in that the nave is built out over the steep hillside, and so there is a set of stairs
in front of the altar that can be opened to allow Pilgrims to set off directly from there!
Thus we set off on the nearly 200km to Conques, with the goal of continuing on from there to Moissac,
and if possible making a detour to Rocamadour.
