We stayed the night before in Einsiedeln, and after having watched the Easter sunrise over the Sihlsee,
we had breakfast in the monastery, and then took the train to Lachen.
(We had gone through Lachen on our way to Pfäffikon last year, and now we were taking a more direct route to Einsiedeln.)
The route took us straight up the hillside, following the advice of a local rather than following the marked route
along the road. This resulted in us meeting an American couple walking their dog, leading to an interesting chat.
As we left Lachen, we could see St. Johannes church on the hill, where we had been on our previous route.
On the way up, we had magnificent views back on places we had been to on our previous routes, looking down
on Rapperswil and the pilgrim causeway, as well as the church of St Johann.
We also met some interesting animal!
The way wound its way upwards to Stöcklichrüz, from where we descended to Willerzell and struggled across the
causeway back to Einsiedeln
