This was a very easy day although it was cool, cloudy and in the end wet!
Our small rented flat was in Zernez which is a pleasant place to stay.
It has an interesting visitor’s centre and adequate food shops.
The station was handy to our flat and the lockers proved to be helpful too.
When we realised that our accommodation had only silly little coffee cups, the second-hand shop with
it’s very friendly assistant allowed us to buy decent mugs for our morning coffee
(very important when preparing to walk all day!).
Leaving on foot from the front door is always a pleasure. The way was pleasant and calming,
starting off with passing a log cabin under construction at the builders yard!
We did walk to S-chanf but felt that this was not necessary to the Way itself as we could have turned off
to continue to the Scarletta Pass before the town.
It, too had seen better days and one could imagine the splendour of the main hotel now boarded up and
looking very in need of renovation ! We did, however, manage to get a stamp from the local tourist office,
which was actually closed but the lady was very helpful when I explained, through the window, what we wanted.
