We decided to stay two nights at the l'oustal de Parent dormitory in Les Faux, so today we took the bus
into Saint Alban-sur-Limagnole to look around, and then walked back along the pilgrim way to Les Faux.
Saint Alban and its church is a quaint medieval village, made famous by its huge psychiatric hospital
on its outskirts. At one time, patients were sent here from all over France, but it is now almost deserted
due to the change in policy, with patients being treated close to their families. The church of Saint Alban
was also worth a visit, and we discovered a farm festival by the livestock market. We also discovered a group
of walkers that we had been meeting at various stages on the way, and who invited us for a drink to celebrate
the birthday of one of their number. Continuing the theme of surprises, we found a well equipped pilgrims'
resting place between St. Alban an Les Faux, and finally, after being served the traditional Aligot,
we found an old photograph illustrating how the wooden frame for putting shows on bullocks was used.
(Almost every village on the way had one, and we were fascinated to learn of its purpose.)
