THIS IS A WORK IN PROGRESS!

-->

We returned by bus to where we'd left off the day before, and walked up to Yvorne, where we walked around the visit looking for the local council offices in order to get a pilgrim stamp. Eventually we asked a local, who directed us to the correct place. The way out of Yvorne to Aigle led gently down a road through the vineyards, and we arrived there in time for coffee and chocolate croissant. The tourist office first of all wanted to send us up throught the vineyards, but on explaining our journey, advised us to follow the Rhone embankment, which turned out to be a good suggestion. We found our way along a cycle track to the river, where we passed a small camping site and some highland cattle, before pausing for a drink at the river, as it was getting hot. The signs said that cyclists should use one side of the river, walkers the other, which seemed a good idea to us, although we did still meet a few cyclists. The river bank was generally shady, and soon we got to the industrial outskirts of Monthey, where we took a train back to our accommodation, avoiding the heat of the afternoon.
