We said farewell to our hostess and dog, and headed off to Moissac, taking a long route round
the town arrive at the back of the abbey. We past a church in the throes of renovation,
lush countryside and expensive houses on the hill, before descending to the Abbey.
There we met Sophie and Chantal again, as well as Sophie's sister who had come to surprise her!
(The sister pretended to be a weird dancing stranger and had us in stitches laughing!)
We went down to the canal, the start of the next section, and had a picnic lunch before walking
back along the canal to the canal aqueduct over the river Tarn. After watching an old canal boat
going through the lock and across the bridge, we returned to the Abbey to look around.
As evening drew in, we went to the railway station, pausing to check out the Pilgrim hostel
that we would return to the following spring, and took the train to Toulouse.
From there we took a coach to Grenoble, where we found a coach to Geneva airport rather
than the later coach we were meant to take.
All that went smoothly, but then the train from Geneva broke down, and we had to take another to Bern,
arriving later than planned. Still, all in all, a pleasant end to three weeks on the Camino!
Compare the pictures of our picnic by the canal bridge at the start of the next section,
with how it looked the following March when we set off again! )
