This looked like being a really easy day…however, it wasn’t!!
We started off in Chur, looking at the cathedral and town, before heading out of town.
Climbing gently out of Chur was fine but then, due to more landslides, we were diverted and it became
really problematic due to a river running down to the Rhine, and quarrying actives round about.
We are told that this has now been rectified and should no longer be a problem for those after us.
After our struggle we arrived at Domat-Ems which was well worth a visit.
The churches there were very beautiful and interesting.
We were lucky that someone came to mow the grass at St.Peter’s (9th century) and had a key to let us visit.
(There is a statue of St.James) and then to visit the 17th century church of the Assumption, the key can be
collected from the pharmacy.
