Once again we left from the front door.
Our host had said that she always used the rail viaduct to cross the river, but we could not allow ourselves
to ignore the warnings of it not being permitted, as well as the danger of meeting a train half-way across.
This then meant a long way down and up the other side. This was the flavour of the day - a lot of up and down
which we found quite tiring. There were a couple of diversions due to landslides.
In one instant we ignored this (having had enough of up and down) and we took the road, but it was not such
a good idea. We did meet a man newly arrived from Spiez who was walking down the same road with a wheelbarrow
on his way to care for his bees. The way became steep and were should have once again taken a diversion
so we chose to take a postal bus to Chur.
