Taking an early train to Lausanne, we began walking shortly before 10.00.
Walking back up Petit Chêne, we turned left to put ourselves back on the Way from St. Français.
Apart from passing in front of the Palais de Justice, the road was busy with traffic and not at all interesting.
Turning into the Parc de Montbenon we walked downwards to La Maldière and to Vidy.
The park, beginning to show signs of approaching Spring, was well laid out and contained an interesting sun dial.
Arriving at the Maladière where back in the Middle Ages people with leprosy, the plague and other infectious diseases lived.
There is a 15th century chapel (unfortunately closed) which had apparently been used for the workers who built the nearby motorway.
After this we continued to Vidy passing the archeological ruins of the Roman town of Lousonna.
(There is a museum there but we did not visit it on this day). The walk continued along the lake and was just splendid;
the sky was blue and the mountains on the opposite side snow capped and the sun was warm.
Judging by the amount of families making the most of such a lovely day, we can imagine that in summer, this area is very quite crowded.
The beaches reminded us of the seaside with the water lapping in the wind, but there were areas of broken glass so one should be careful.
Arriving in St. Sulpice, we found an open 14/15th century church. Although it gave addresses of where to obtain a stamp, we were unlucky
in finding one. Continuing onto Morges the paths became more crowded and Morges itself very busy.
We were also unable to find an open church (the main church being under renovation) and the tourist office being shut (it was Saturday)
so we asked at the Castle (site of a museum) and were very welcomed by two young ladies who gave us a stamp of the Castle.
From here we continued to St.Prex. The signing was not good so we ‘followed our noses’.
We did come across a path that led us under a bridge (and under a very busy road) but unfortunately this was flooded
so we ended crossing the road. After this the path continued through little woods, along a river and next to the railway line and fields
- all very pleasant, to the station at St. Prex where we caught a train just after 16.00 after a wonderful day out.
