We slept well and left 70€ against our better judgment (almond milk in câfe au lait is not something to be recommended!)
We walked to Bessey which had a bread machine an open church and a toilet. It had nice looking wooden bungalows for rent.
We latter met town very nice ladies walking their dogs who stopped for a chat. We walked through some pretty hamlets
before beginning to climb. Stopping for a snack, two Germans stopped to ask where we were from. On telling them,
they said that there were two people from Switzerland coming on behind them. They, in turn, stopped to ask if we were
Angus and Sue! They had been following us for several days and had seen my entries in the churches’ visitors books.
They turned out to be from 15mins drive away from us in Walkringen! We continued to walk together and picnicked
in front of a closed gîte. Later we met again in St. Julien where we stopped for a snack. From there,
the walk to Bourg Argenteil was not pleasant. The path was granite stones which were sharp and slippery and it was
27° which didn’t help. Visiting the church in Bourg, I stopped a man to ask where our accommodation was and he
directed us to a road climbing out of the town. It was at the top of a long hill climb but was amazing.
We had a little house all to ourselves and it even had a bath! The host insisted on lighting the fire so that
we would be comfortable. The evening meal was very nice as was the company. However this was spoilt by the man from
the night before ringing to ask why we hadn’t paid! It was very upsetting. (We had put the money in the folder
not wanting to leave it out as there was no means of locking the door when we left)
